Active Angels in a new initiative set up by the Limerick City Sports Partnership to help promote sport in Limerick City and help women reconnect with local sports clubs.
There are many women who would love to get involved with a specific sports club but may feel that they do not have the skills or fitness level required to do so, or they might be intimidated to join a team as they do not know anyone involved in the club etc . The Active Angels programme wants to help combat these issues and show how easy and enjoyable it can be to get involved in a club.
Clubs/teams who are interested in getting involved in this programme will be required to nominate 1 person from their club to act as a mentor. The mentor will work with new recruits to help them integrate into their club. They will guide, support and motivate the new recruits and help them become part of their team. The Limerick City Sports Partnership will work with the mentor to ensure they feel comfortable taking on this new and exciting role.
The Active Angel Programme will provide each participating club with a club grant worth €200.00 to help develop their club further.
The Limerick City Sports Partnership is looking for expressions of interest from women’s sports clubs and teams who would like to become involved in this programme. Clubs can email expressions of interest to tmahedy@limerickcitysports.ie or send to the Limerick City Sports Partnership, Unit 9, Steamboat Quay, Dock Rd, Limerick. Expression of interest should include name of club, contact details and name of nominated mentor. Only applications received on or before the 17th August 2011 will be considered for this programme.
