Boccia

Limerick Winners

Boccia is a tactical game which can be played at any age.

6 players (3 on red team, 3 on blue team) play towards a target “jack” with the aim of getting as many as possible on their team closest to the target.  The game is fully inclusive as anyone with a physical disability or reduced mobility due to age can play and enjoy the game.  As a social or competitive game, boccia can also be enjoyed by anyone with an intellectual disability.

Boccia Trainer course was held on October 22nd at Enable Ireland Adults Services in Mungret.  National coach and tutor , Siobhán Garvey, brought participants through every aspect of the game.  This included court marking, official rules and adaptations, tactics of team play and skill development.
